Crosfields retained their top of the table status with a convincing 6-2 away victory at bottom club Seneley & Garswood, following an 8-week game absence. Both teams failed to create any clear cut chances in the early exchanges, with the first real effort of note being a long range effort from Lewis Brocklehurst that was comfortably saved by the home keeper.
A neat 1-2 between Sam Fellows and Dylan Hunt saw Fellows burst into the Seneley & Garswood area but couldn't find a finish past the keeper. However, the games opening goal soon followed, when a half cleared Hunt corner found Fellows on the edge of the area who struck a right footed shot over the Seneley keeper into the roof of the net.
This forced a change in tempo from the home team who twice came close to scoring. Crosfields keeper Jacob Dimeloe did enough on both occasions to keep his team ahead - firstly tipping a shot away before reacting well to tackle an opposing striker on the edge of his area. However, Dimeloe was finally beaten following a goal-mouth scramble, that saw the ball forced home from close range.
Crosfields made two changes at the break, with Sean Farrell and striker Harry Thatcher replacing Harry Willcox and keeper Dimeloe, with Ryan Fance taking over in goal.
Crosfields started the half well and slowly began to dominate the game, with Dylan Hunt in particular controlling the middle of the park. And it was Hunt who restored Crosfields lead with a great turn and finish from just inside the area that gave the Seneley & Garswood keeper no chance. Sean Farrell was unlucky to see a long range volley clear the bar just moment later before Thatcher claimed Crosfields third with a deflected strike.
Crosfields were awarded a fortunate penalty for a push on Hunt, who stepped upto to convert the spot kick. However, the referee asked the midfielder to retake the kick, which he coolly did for his second and his teams fourth of the game.
From the restart, Sam Fellows won the ball, before beating the home defence to hammer an excellent left footed drive into the bottom corner of the goal, for his 14th league goal of the season. Five became Six when Thatcher reacted quickest to force the ball over the line. Despite the home team claiming the ball hadn't crossed the line, the referee was well placed to award the goal - Thatcher's 13th goal for the season.
Seneley & Garswood claimed a late consolation, when a close range shot beat Fance to complete the scoring, giving Crosfields a 6-2 victory.
