In temperatures up in the high 20s and a blazing sun all day, a team of under-11 girls (comprising players from the Lions and Tigers squads) played eight 6-minute matches over a five hour period. With such short matches, goals were at a premium and after a short while in the heat, tiredness set in making it even harder for the girls to show their undoubted passing ability. Of the eight games, there were two 1-0 wins, two 1-0 losses, a 1-1 draw and three goalless draws. Things were tense as the results were totted up. With four teams going through to the semi-finals, it was unfortunate that Crosfields finished on 11 points with a goal difference of zero as the fourth placed team also finished on 11 points but with a goal difference of +1! Never mind, the girls did well to keep going all day and let's hope for a cooler (but still dry!) day at Moss Farm on 18th July.
