One in 20,000

Congratulations to Sarah Jeffrey who may have become the 20,000th female to hold the FA Level One Certificate in Coaching Football. Sarah, who administers Crosfields JFC Under 6 age group, completed the course at Liverpool FA in the month during which the FA expects the 20,000th female to qualify At the start of the month189,000 coaches held the Level One Certificate, of which 19,805 were female. Every month roughly 200 females embark on their maiden coaching voyage, meaning the 20,000 barrier may have been broken by Sarah!. The Level One course provides an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for players. The course provides practical drills to develop players’ technical skills such as shooting, turning with the ball and heading. It is ideally suited to those working with groups of young players and/or teams. Aspiring coaches also learn about The FA’s Long Term Player Development programme and how coaches should be addressing the 'four corners' of a player’s development: Technical, Physical, Social and Psychological. Sarah becomes the sixth female within Crosfields JFC to gain the Award. Congratulations go to her and the other 20,000 ladies!
