New Year Disappointment for the Brazil Boys!

Judging by Saturday's 3-1 defeat absolutely not! The previous game 5 weeks previously had not been the greatest success, but that was in the past and 2010 is a new year, there had been a good attitude in training and we were hoping that the Brazil boys would turn up with a renewed passion and desire to win. However it was Haydock from the division below who took the early initiave in this first round of the auxiliary cup. On their first attack within the opening 5 minutes miscommunication and a lack of urgency led to the opening goal which was slightly against the run of play. 1 nil down. It was 2 nil 10 minutes later as Haydock again capitalised on some poor decision making and defending taking things from bad to worse. The scoreline was fair as the boys were very slow out of the blocks today. A half time dressing down is par for the course this season but the coaches never did this today, simply asked the boys to stand up be counted take responsibility for the situation and start to believe in themselves and play the football that we know they can. Despite the scoreline taking a turn for the worse at 3 nil the performace was much improved and a goal from Elliot Joyce followed a good period of possession and pressure. The second half was a huge improvement on the first and should be a good springboard to next week where we play away in the closest thing to a derby we have away at Cromwell. Matty Spencer was the pick of the players in the 2nd half showing tigerish determination and commitment to the cause.
